Government takes steps to secure productivity reforms in the Public Service Performance Management Bill.
The Government has taken another significant step towards strengthening productivity and accountability in the public service following a high-level multi-agency meeting convened to review the integration of recommendations from the National Productivity and Performance Conference, 2026 into the proposed Public Service Performance Management Bill, 2026.
The meeting was co-chaired by the PS for the State Department for National Government Coordination, Hon. Ahmed A. Ibrahim, and the PS for the State Department for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Aurelia Rono. It brought together representatives from key government institutions to assess progress in incorporating productivity-focused reforms into the proposed legislation.
Discussions centered on the inclusion of key productivity principles in the Bill, while identifying additional provisions to be addressed through the attendant regulations. The meeting also sought to harmonize the country's performance management and productivity policy frameworks to ensure a more coherent and effective approach to public sector governance.
The initiative reflects the Government's continued commitment to embedding a culture of productivity, strengthening accountability mechanisms and improving service delivery across the public service. Once enacted, the proposed legislation is expected to provide a robust legal framework for advancing performance excellence and fostering a results-oriented public service that meets the evolving needs of citizens.
