PS Ahmed Highlights Performance Management Reforms at National Productivity and Performance Conference 2026

The closing ceremony of the National Productivity and Performance Conference 2026 brought together senior government leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to reaffirm their commitment to enhancing productivity and improving public service delivery across Kenya.

The event, held at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi, was graced by H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto, alongside the PS Hon. Ahmed  Ibrahim and other government leaders.

Over the course of three days, participants from both the public and private sectors engaged in discussions on practical strategies to boost productivity, strengthen institutional performance, and improve service delivery. The conference also featured the National Public Service Productivity and Performance Awards, recognizing institutions and individuals for excellence, innovation, and outstanding performance in public service.

Addressing the conference, PS Ahmed  reaffirmed the State Department's commitment to institutionalizing Performance Contracting and Productivity Management through the proposed Public Service Performance Management Bill. The Bill seeks to establish a standardized framework for performance management in the public service by strengthening the link between planning, budgeting, implementation, and the achievement of measurable results.

He noted that the proposed reforms mark a significant shift from focusing primarily on cost-cutting to delivering measurable outcomes that improve the quality of public services and create lasting value for all Kenyans.

The conference concluded with a renewed commitment from government institutions and stakeholders to foster a high-performing, accountable, and citizen-centred public service that drives national development.
