PS Ahmed Ibrahim Chairs Fourth Implementation Committee Meeting to Advance National Government–Nairobi City County Cooperation
The National Government Coordination Principal Secretary, Hon. Ahmed Abdisalan chaired the Fourth Meeting of the Legal, Governance, Finance and Communication Sub-Committee of the Implementation Committee established under the National Government–Nairobi City County Government Cooperation Agreement.
The Implementation Committee plays a central role in overseeing the day-to-day execution of the Cooperation Agreement and reports to the Joint Steering Committee, which is chaired by His Excellency the Prime Cabinet Secretary.
During the meeting, members reviewed the progress made in implementing key commitments under the Cooperation Agreement and deliberated on matters relating to Legal and Governance, Finance and Budget, Communication, and the Nairobi Metropolitan Police Unit. The discussions also focused on strengthening institutional coordination to ensure the effective implementation of agreed programmes and projects aimed at improving service delivery for Nairobi residents.
The meeting brought together representatives from both the National Government and the Nairobi City County Government, including Mr. Stephen Mwangi, Nairobi City County Executive Committee Member for Boroughs, Administration and Personnel; Ms. Anne Olubendi, Advisor, Policy and Strategy, Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary; FCPA Agnes Odhiambo, Advisor, Finance, Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary; and Mr. Wesonga Ogola, Nairobi City County Solicitor. Senior officers from the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, the Nairobi City County Government, and the State Department for National Government Coordination were also in attendance.
Speaking after the meeting, the PS reaffirmed the State Department's commitment to fostering strong intergovernmental collaboration and ensuring the successful implementation of the Cooperation Agreement. He noted that sustained coordination between the two levels of government is critical to delivering a cleaner, safer, and more efficient Nairobi for the benefit of all residents.
