State Department Signs Landmark Partnership to Advance National Values and Build a Cohesive Nation

The State Department for National Government Coordination has strengthened its commitment to promoting national values and social cohesion through the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Regional Education Learning Initiative (RELI Africa).

The partnership, spearheaded by the Directorate of National Cohesion and Values (DNCV), was formalized during a signing ceremony presided over by the Secretary, DNCV, Mr. Josiah Musili, EBS. The collaboration marks a significant milestone in advancing the promotion, mainstreaming and monitoring of national values and life skills in line with Article 10 of the Constitution of Kenya.

The MoU establishes a framework for collaboration in three strategic areas. These include conducting a national survey to assess the status of national values and principles of governance across the country, strengthening the capacity of parents and communities to nurture values and life skills among children and young people and enhancing public engagement through stakeholder forums, awareness campaigns and the annual commemoration of World Values Day.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Mr. Musili emphasized that strategic partnerships are essential in fostering a values-driven society and strengthening national cohesion. He noted that the collaboration reflects the Directorate's commitment to working with like-minded organizations to promote responsible citizenship, ethical leadership and shared national identity.

RELI Africa Kenya Coordinator, Ms. Nyambura Thiong'o, reaffirmed the organization's commitment to supporting values-based education and empowering families and communities to play a greater role in shaping responsible and ethical future generations.

The partnership is expected to accelerate efforts to institutionalize national values, strengthen social cohesion, and cultivate a culture of integrity and accountability across the country. It also reinforces the State Department for National Government Coordination's broader agenda of promoting collaborative approaches that contribute to a united, peaceful, and values-driven Kenya.
